Jaguar - Sensitive sites protection by video content analysis
Launched in 2005 and improved since then, release after release taking benefits of the field feedbacks, Jaguar is THE most complete video content analysis solution dedicated to sensitive sites and perimeter protection.
Among the many use cases of Jaguar, one can mention:
- Intrusion detection and perimeter protection
- Automatic tracking of intruders on mobile cameras
- Area protection and loitering detection
- Oil & Gas leaks detection
- Fire ignition or abnormal heat detection
- Gateway unicity control
Initially developed for the French Ministry of Defense, Jaguar has been successfully deployed on thousands of cameras, and in a wide range of sensitive situations, whether in the fields of energy, State context, VIP residences or the industry. Jaguar easily integrates onto existing infrastructure (cameras, video management systems, alarm systems, remote monitoring stations).
Jaguar is certified as primary detection solution according to the UK MoD I-LIDS standard since 2013.
It allows to reach a detection range doubled compared to the vast majority of the solutions of the market. EVITECH refuses any compromise about processing power or features richness and configuration possibilities, thus making it the most versatile product of the market for sensitive sites protection.
Its performances are guaranteed for intrusion detection (both for detection rates and number of false alarms).
The three-dimensional scene management and the possibility to create advanced scenarios gives Jaguar an unrivalled flexibility for the implementation of detection solutions in the difficult environments.
JAGUAR connects to any type of video flows (BNC or IP/ONVIF by WIFI/LAN/4G/xDSL) and detects: presence, intrusion, abnormal behaviour, abandoned object… It then transmits all the analysis data to the security agents or to a remote monitoring station through an IP link (IP socket), an alarm control panel (dry contacts), by e-mail, by telephone, etc.
More details
- Intruders detection
The Video analytics software (EAGLE, JAGUAR) detects at real time and continuously all kinds of moves, and allows to set alarm areas, to detect intruders efficiently, even in difficult environments. These alarm areas can be of any shape, and associated conditions can be of any kind, thus allowing to create an infinite range of combinations. The software ensures excellent detection, possibly from one pixel targets, even at night, by fog, etc... It allows the detection of threats when they are still very far from the camera.
When the distance from one camera to the next is close enough to see human targets as 6 pixels at least, the software guarantees a false alarm rate of less than 2 per day.camera.
With good quality color cameras, down to 2 lux of brightness (like full moon), we have demonstrated detection and image enhancing abilities that allow savings on infra-red camera cost on installations, even with low lighting, or no lighting at all in town and in the suburbs.
In order to limit false alarms, we provide solutions for cases such as :
- wandering animals,
- regular patrolling guards and dogs,
- grille letting car lights light up the sensitive site,
- alarms when somebody stops near the fence, and not if the person is just passing by,
- crawling person,
- possibly under painted cartons...
Intrusion problems are at the heart of our software security capabilities, we are used to study all the difficult cases, possibly with our integrators : don't hesitate to contact us !
- Video analytics of goods stocks images outdoor
There are situations where valuable goods are stored outside a building, in an enclosure, or a garden, and where one wants to be warned of move or disappearing of such objects, without ringing bells anytime when a move happens in the neigborhood.
EAGLE and JAGUAR's video analytics functions allow to detect removals or moves of objects in the sensitive areas you define. Draw a zone around your stock on the evening and create a suitable alarm, and you will be warned any time an object is moved or taken, without being disturbed by false alarms when moves occur around.
The intelligent video surveillance software will raise the alarm if the modification is long enough to be a real change. It will provide a video recording that contains also several seconds before the alarm, allowing to find out the origins of the incident.
A regular recording (without alarm) of the persons passing by allows, after a robbery, to check who could have been interested previously by some objects, at a time where no hiding was possible. Thus, a list of suspicious individuals can be established using these records.
The smart video sensor connects any kind of image data (BNC, IP, WIFI, DSL, Firewire, ...) uncompresses any kind of image (PAL/SECAM, H.264, MPEG4, MJPEG, ...) and offers an intelligent analysis of images, resistant to any kind of outdoor conditions, for sensistive sites protection applications : intrusion detection, abnormal behaviour, abandoned object, ... It sends alarm messages through IP messages, dry contactors, e-mails, SMS or MMS via GSM/GPRS/UMTS ...
- Video analytics for Oil & Gas installations and fire detection
In the situations of Oil & Gas or industry installations, EVITECH proposes its Jaguar Video analytics application for oil leaks detection functions, gas leaks detection functions, and fire start detection functions. Installed on several oil plants : refineries, thermal plants, oil ports, these solutions allow an efficient surveillance outdoors.
Alarms are reported locally to the process monitoring units, or coupled with a ringing alarm system, a sprinklers automatic activation, and a remote alarm to firemen or rescue riots.
Here is an example of fire start detection (recycling industry) :
And here is an example of gas leak detection (source GdF- Suez) :
- Suspicious behaviours detection
We propose two applications for two different situations : individual behavior detection and crowd detection.
- individual behavior detection (presented here)
- crowd detection (there).
In a public area, when somebody has a suspicious behaviour, several indices can be used to raise an alarm depending on the situation. Here, the person seems to wander slowly among cars. EVITECH's Video analytics software can automatically identify and raise these situations to the interest of guards :
- frequent stops,
- wrong direction walk,
- low or high speed,
- crawling or squatting silhouette,
- person staying or wandering to long in the area (using signature of the object),
- too long stop close to a sensitive area,
- same person seen successively under different cameras,
- groups, group size,
- abandoned object, tagging, laying object,
- conditions combinations, other observations ...
Possibilities are without limit, especially with the target signature function that enables target tracking even in case of other persons crossing, and from a camera to another if the signature is shared on the camera network. Our integration teams are at your disposal for any case of situation where you want to study an opportunity.

- The NUC fanless computers
The NUC400
The fanless mini-server NUC400 was designed to propose a low power consumption solution (around 23 Watts) which allows the monitoring of up to 4 cameras over a server of less than 6"x6"x2". At a very interesting price, this server adresses small sites where only 1 to 4 cameras are to be monitored. It can cope with images of 4CIF size or more. It is configurable with a screen through a HDMI or mini-HDMI connector.
Without any fan or any mobile item, it copes with a temperature range of 0°C - 50°C.
Its low consumption allows the use of batteries to secure its operation for 3 days. It can be completed with an Ethernet switch (possibly POE, if some cameras require it), with a TOR module, for inputs as well as outputs (activation/stop input orders, as well as alarms outputs), and with analog encoders in case of analog cameras.
The NUC100 and NUC200
The fanless mini-server NUC200 was designed to propose a low power consumption solution (10 Watts for 1 camera, 15 Watts for 2) which allows the monitoring of 1 or 2 camera(s) over a server of less than 6"x4,4"x2". At a very interesting price, this server adresses small configurations where only 1 to 2 cameras are to be monitored. It can cope with images of 4CIF size or more. It is configurable with a screen through a VGA connector.

- Automatic dome drive through IP (AXIS, Pelco-D/IP, ...),
- Jaguar enables processing unit,
- Totally waterproof (IP67),
- Extended temperature range from -20°C to +55°C,
- Power consumption ~60W in 220V AC, or 12-19V DC 6A,
- Very compact : 30 cm x 21 cm x 10 cm for less than 4 kg.
This system can be deployed in a temporary or permanent installation in outdoor conditions (in an electric box, or near the sea, ...) for buildings, for city surveillance, or along roads or railways, in harbors, etc. It embeds a full Jaguar configuration which allows multiple simultaneous detection applications : intruder detection, reverse walk/drive, speed, laid object, fire start, counting, ...
EVITECH has integrated other surveillance systems for specific conditions . Please contact us for your projects.
- Tracking
JAGUAR video analytics software detection and tracking functions can be used to track individuals or make statistical course analysis. A display mode with a display wire allows to see at every moment the origin of a target, and its stopping times. This tracking is done in spite of the crossings the individual can do while moving. Below, we can see the take-off track of an airplane (I-8 object), filmed with a B&W Sony camera :
In multi-camera modes, the target signature can be used to share information from a camera to another, and recognize the individual track. In particular, this functionality can operate even with wholes in the area coverage (the person being unseen between 2 cameras). When the individual is taken inside a group, the system will keep its signature to identify him again when he leaves this group.
- Abandoned object
The JAGUAR software allow to detect abandoned, even small sized, objects, even very similar to other objects close from the laying location.
On the images below (SONY tri-CCD camera), you can see a test under snow, a person laying a small white bag on the wall, just similar to a snow falling flake. In the first image, we see a person coming (P-1, for Person and first threat), with the bag. Biggests falling snowflakes (see on the upper left corner) are filtered by the software, they are not classified as a threat : they cannot raise an alarm.
In the second image, the person leaves while having laid the white bag on the wall. It is then detected as threat number two (I-2), where I stands for unclassified Ignored-type threat.
Conclusion : The software tells the operator that only two threats have been observed in the scene, despite the falling snowflakes : the person (P-1) and the bag (I-2). An alarm triggered on an immobile object will finally raise the expected alarm.
- Control of visitor unicity (SAS)
In the surveillance of entry SAS, sensitive locations, or certain ramps, it is sometimes required to ensure the uniqueness of an individual’s passage. Depending on the criticality of the control, one or more different systems can be implemented, and EVITECH software can help to effectively perform this function through several applications, such as zone analysis by zenithal camera (a camera, in view of the top): ensures the dimensions seen from the top of the silhouette, or area analysis by horizontal or oblique cameras (several cameras observing the visible edges of the silhouette): image analyses by several cameras can be cross-referenced to calculate the envelope (volume) of the silhouette.
